Visiting Versailles from Disneyland: how long?
For a complete visit to the Castle and Gardens, plan 8 to 10 hours :
- Journey Disneyland → Versailles : 1h-1h15 by taxi (€148) / 1h45 by RER+metro
- Castle entrance line : 30-60 min (1h+ Saturday/Sunday in high season)
- Interior Castle Visit : 2-3h (Galley of Mirrors, Grand Apartments)
- Lunch (on-site restaurants) : 1h-1h30
- Gardens and Petit Trianon : 2-3 hours (huge, possibility of small train)
- Return to Disneyland : 1h-1h15 by taxi / 1h45 by transport
Departure from Disneyland 8 a.m. for return 6-7 p.m. Very rich but tiring day.

Versailles passport (the most complete)
32 € adult, free under 18 and under 26 EU. Included:
- Castle (Grand Apartments, Hall of Mirrors, Chapel, Opera)
- Petit Trianon, Grand Trianon, Hameau de la Reine
- Gardens (free access except large water bodies)
Passport with Grandes Eaux Musicales
40 € adult. Adds access to musical fountains from April to October on Saturdays/Sundays.
Castle ticket only
21 € adult. More restricted, does not give access to the Trianons.
Important : obligatory time slot (online reservation). Show up 15 minutes before.
Best time to visit Versailles
Preferred days
- Tuesday, Thursday, Friday : fewer people than weekends
- Opening 9:00 a.m. : arrive from 9:15 a.m., peak traffic at 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
- November to March (except holidays): less crowded but cold inside
- Mid-April to June : flowery gardens, mild weather
Days to avoid
- Closure every Monday (castle)
- Grandes Eaux weekends (Saturday/Sunday April-October): very busy
- French public holidays (high attendance)

Castle must-sees
Hall of Mirrors
The iconic room, 73 meters long, 17 mirrored arcades. Built in 1684 by Jules Hardouin-Mansart. Today restored to all its glory. Photos without flash allowed.
Grand Apartments of the King and Queen
11 linked salons (Hercules salon, Venus salon, Abundance salon, Diana salon, etc.). Each room dedicated to a mythological deity with allegorical decor. Restored bedroom of King Louis XIV.
Royal Chapel
Mansart's last major work completed in 1710. Unique Gothic + Baroque architecture.
Royal Opera
Theater built in 1770 for Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. Remarkable acoustics. Visit + current opera program.
The Gardens and Trianons
The gardens of Versailles, designed by André Le Nôtre, extend over 800 hectares :
- North and South flowerbeds : floral embroidery
- Orangery : winter shelter for Louis XIV's orange trees
- Apollo Basin : central golden sculpture
- Grand Canal : 1.6 km long, cruises 20 min (€8)
- Petit Trianon : Marie-Antoinette’s pink pavilion
- Grand Trianon : Louis XIV summer residence
- Queen's Hamlet : idyllic rural village
Small train (€7/person) to connect the castle to the Petit Trianon (frequent journeys).
